Krishna by Osho5/11/2023 ![]() Similarly he is quite at home among snakes and reptiles. Even when he claims to be the best among the cows he remains a cow. Even when he claims to be the Airavat among elephants, he remains nonetheless an elephant. While he declares himself to be the best among different classes of creatures, he does not distinguish between one class and another. And secondly – and this is more significant – he finds his peers even among the lowliest of creatures like cows and horses.īoth things should be taken together. And there are two beautiful aspects to it.įirstly, Krishna declares himself to be the best among all things – of all the seasons he is the spring, of all the cows he is the Kamdhenu, of all the elephants he is the Airavat. DOES IT MEAN THAT HE IS TRYING TO DECLARE HIMSELF TO BE THE BEST AND THE GREATEST IN ALL CREATION? DOES IT ALSO MEAN THAT HE REFUSES TO REPRESENT ALL THAT IS LOWLY AND BASE? WHY DOES HE EXCLUDE THE MEANEST OF US ALL? AND WHERE DOES THE MEANEST BELONG? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() QUESTIONER: KRISHNA, IN CHAPTER TEN OF THE GEETA DESCRIBES HIMSELF TO BE THE GANGES AMONG THE RIVERS, THE SPRING AMONG THE SEASONS, THE LION AMONG THE BEASTS, THE GARUDA OR EAGLE AMONG THE BIRDS, THE AIRAVAT AMONG THE ELEPHANTS, THE KAMDHENU AMONG THE COWS, VASUKI AMONG THE SNAKES, AND SO ON. Here is something beautiful from Osho on Krishna’s words in the Gita about his being the best in everything. ![]()

The convenient omission of household workers’ problems from the programs of “middle-class” feminists past and present has often turned out to be a veiled justification-at least on the part of the affluent women-of their own exploitative treatment of their maids. ![]() They have rarely been involved in the Sisyphean task of ameliorating the conditions of domestic service. “White women-feminists included-have revealed a historical reluctance to acknowledge the struggles of household workers. ![]() The glass bead game review5/11/2023 ![]() ![]() He begins to play the Glass Bead Game as a child and is fascinated with it. ![]() The novel has the narrator, Joseph Knecht learning to perfect this mind game during the course of his life. It was a mental exercise that the author performed long before he thought of writing the novel of the same name. The game is a way of mentally synthesizing spiritual values. It was a form of intellectual pastime that the author played. It was a way to keep his mind busy while he was doing something physical. The Glass Bead Game is a mind game that Hesse used to play when he was raking and burning leaves in his garden. Hesse tells his story with the parody of humor in it. He finally becomes a Master of the Game, or Magister Ludi, when he is an adult. Knecht is a member of the intellectual elite and has been obsessed with mastering the Glass Bead Game since he was a child. The novel is basically a parody of biography as Hesse tells the story of Joseph Knecht. It is Hesse's story of the life of Magister Ludi Joseph Knecht, and is written in novel form. ![]() The Glass Bead Game by Hermann Hesse was first published in Switzerland in 1943 and it was to be his last major work. ![]() Letters from wolfie by patti sherlock5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() But at the end of the book something awful happens. Being Plumville by Savannah J. Frierson5/10/2023 ![]() Originally from Blythewood, SC, she currently lives in Somerville, MA where she works as a proofreader and freelance editor. Frierson is a 2005 graduate of Harvard College with concentrations in African and African-American Studies, and English. I look forward to seeing her writing career grow. She's so excited about writing, you want to touch her and get a little bit for yourself. We met face to face at the Slam Jam this year and she won me over with her humble personality. I was impressed with her enthusiasm for the business. ![]() EDITOR NOTE: I had the pleasure of meeting Savannah online when she introduced me to her self published book - Being Plumville. ![]() Exodus a novel of israel5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Uris also endured some of his own battles, feuding with directors Otto Preminger and Alfred Hitchcock, and fighting lawsuits for both "Exodus" and the thriller "Topaz." In researching "Exodus," he logged thousands of miles and ended up reporting on the 1956 conflict in the Middle East. "It's referred to as 'The Book."'Įnergetic and unafraid, the author was as much an adventurer as a writer, traveling tirelessly and sometimes risking his life. "'Exodus' has been the Bible of the Jewish dissident movement in Russia," Uris told The Associated Press in a 1988 interview. The novel was translated into dozens of languages and was even distributed secretly in communist countries. Still, there are several truly humorous scenes that made me laugh out loud, which balanced some of the pervasive tension his situation generates. Lord Atreau Vediya, the Duke’s spymaster, is far more than he appears to be, and it was easy to feel the weight of the consequences he carries. Unlike the earlier stories, Master of Restless Shadows concerns the fate of two couples, rather than one. There’s also a fairly thorough glossary at the end that should help, as well. With that in mind, I feel like I missed quite a bit in Master of Restless Shadows, even though the author provides as much background as the narrative progresses as possible. ![]() It’s been way too long since I read the Lord of the White Hell novels, and I never did follow those with the Champion of the Scarlet Wolf titles. Family Preservation has taught them to play things close to the vest whether it be in life or love. Romance heroes in these books are especially possessive, domineering, and aces at hiding their true emotions. What’s a mafia romance book without an alpha male at its helm? Whether the hero of the story is the head boss, son of the crime leader, or an enforcer for a family, given his life choices you better believe he’s going to be one strong alpha male. So if one or all of these themes get your motor running, you’ll undoubtedly become a fan of mafia romance novels. Not all of these themes will be included in every mafia romance book, but there’s a good chance several will be. While all mafia romance books deal with some aspect of organized crime, there are several other common themes that readers will find within a mafia romance novel. ![]() ![]() ![]() Think The Sopranos only with a love story and happily-ever-after.
